Unified Streaming has launched Unified Remix AVOD, a new solution for OTT providers delivering advertisement-supported video-on-demand streaming services. This solution fulfills the ever-expanding needs of distributors to service their customers’ increasing demands for free content.
Unified Remix AVOD is a spinoff of Unified Remix, a software engine, also developed by Unified Streaming, that uses a server-side playlist to mix clips from various origins into a single remixed MP4.
With Unified Remix AVOD adding Timed Metadata, such as SCTE 35 markers or custom Timed Metadata is easy and straightforward. When the media is not preconditioned (i.e. splice points do not match up with a keyframe in the video) Unified Remix AVOD may be used to insert keyframes at these points supporting frame accuracy.
The remixed MP4 file created by Unified Remix AVOD serves as input for Unified Origin and Unified Packager. The decorated manifests and media are suitable for use by third-party ad-insertion platforms.
The solution integrates elegantly into Unified Streaming’s ecosystem and all existing players. Unified Remix AVOD is cost-effective to deploy, maintain and scale, allowing for quick time to market.
“Our customers have huge libraries of VOD content and want to easily insert and/or replace their advertising. Until Unified Remix AVOD, there was a lack of tooling and workflow for a cost-effective and high-quality solution,” says Unified Streaming’s VP of Global Sales, Simon Westbroek.
Announced at NAB Show 2019, Unified Remix AVOD will be available in Q3.
