Unified Streaming delivers video and audio content for the world’s advanced online video service, BBC Media Factory
Unified Streaming BV, a leading provider of cross-platform video-streaming technologies today announced that it is named as technology provider to the BBC Media Factory. BBC Media Factory is shortlisted for the IBC 2014 Innovation Awards.
Media Factory offers a groundbreaking service to BBC’s iPlayer, which delivers content to millions of users a day on many screens and to over a 1,000 different devices. Unified Streaming was selected as one of the companies helping the BBC make the switch from the On Demand Production Service backend to a new system called Media Factory. Media Factory launched on September 30, 2013. By the middle of this month, the BBC hopes to have the first live channels online, and by this summer the BBC should have all live content available — all of which will rely on Unified Streaming’s Unified Streaming Platform (USP).
“The IBC Innovation awards are the “Oscars” for online media delivery technology and demonstrate successful live use cases” said Arjen Wagenaar, Chief Technology Officer at Unified Streaming. “We appreciate the advanced and innovative technical approach of BBC and being a key part of the content delivery process for iPlayer”. The Awards Ceremony is at 18.30 on Sunday 14 September at IBC 2014 in Amsterdam.
At IBC 2014 (Sept. 11 – 16 in Amsterdam), Unified Streaming will launch new product and demonstrate proven solutions for content delivery to any device in the Content Everywhere Hall 14 stand 33.
